We have met so many incredible fans from so many walks of life and the one admirable aspect that really stands out is their need to give. The Star Wars community in particular really stands out. Groups and non-profit organization like Rancho Obi-Wan, the 501st and The Rebel Legion are always raising money and awareness with appearances at hospitals and Make-A-Wish events.
While we prepare for our May The 4th episode next week, we are playing clips from past episodes where fans talk about their charitable side. We hear from president and High-Supreme Collector at Rancho Obi-Wan Stephen Sansweet. In this clip from Episode 23, we ask him about where the money goes that his charity events raise.
Victor Franco, a proud member of the R2 Builder’s Club, brings his R2 unit to so many charities all around Southern California. In Episode 10 he tells us how much the kids at hospitals love seeing the little astromech droid.
A few weeks ago in Episode 25 we spoke with C-3PO cosplayer Simon Wilkie. He is a proud regional supporter for the Make A Wish Foundation in the UK.
Episode 12 was our look back on the year 2013. We spoke with Shawn Obi-Shawn Crosby, a member of the Rebel Legion which does many, many events for charity. We asked him his high and low points of the year, and one particular event, a Relay For Life, stuck in his mind.

On Friday, April 25, the internet blew up with the news that the Star Wars Expanded Universe would be “Turning a New Page,” in an official Lucasfilm press release on starwars.com. In other words, Lucasfilm and Disney confirmed that the new movies, Episodes 7-9 would be telling a different story and they will not tell the same story told in the post-Return of the Jedi Expanded Universe.
Lucasfilm has formed a story group that will keep tabs on the universe and make sure all media is telling the same story. This includes movies, TV series, books, games and even media that hasn’t been invented yet. (Still no word on where Star Wars Angry Birds, the up-coming Phineas & Ferb and Star Wars M&M’s fits into all this?)
