TODAY IN STAR WARS HISTORY: 1/9/1987 Star Tours, opens to the public at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. This “Ultimate Star Wars Adventure,” was the first Disney attraction based on a non-Disney produced film. George Lucas and Disney CEO Michael Eisner cut the ribbon at the grand ceremony which included a show that was affectionately called “the Darth Vader Ballet” that combined Disney-styled entertainment with Star Wars characters.
