SNOW WHITE Review: Pure Gem or Poison Apple?
SNOW WHITE is the latest film to get Disney’s live-action treatment. Because this is Walt Disney Animation’s remake of THE original feature-length animated film, SNOW WHITE has huge shoes to fill. After nearly bankrupting the company, 1937’s SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS was such a success that it propelled forward Walt Disney Studios as we know it today, including its Burbank headquarters.
Now on to the review – this live-action version of SNOW WHITE is a true musical. Fans of Disney princess films and the original 1937 film already expect great music, and SNOW WHITE bumps it up a few musical notches. If you are a fan of this genre then you will love this movie.

The songwriters of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN created several new songs that grab you from the opening moment. That, combined with the stand-out costume design, makeup, cinematography, and story changes for Snow White’s “Prince”, propel the film to #1 in my Disney’s live-action remakes list.

Yes, the digital dwarves take some getting-used-to, but overall their look fits within the world of their environment. I began to accept them during the fun and energetic “Whistle While you Work” number.
8.5 out of 10 apples – not a poison one in the bushel.
If you are able, try watching SNOW WHITE free of all the controversy surround the production and political views of the actresses. In doing so, you might have a magical experience. Remember that hundreds of people worked hard to bring the film to life – give it a chance for their sakes.

Synopsis
Once upon a time, there was a kingdom on the edge of a magical forest where beauty and light filled the air. The kingdom was governed by a kind and virtuous king and queen, who were the parents of a daughter named Snow White. Following the queen’s untimely death, the king remarries, and while Snow White’s new stepmother is graced with poise and beauty, she has an evil heart and despises her new stepdaughter.
Before long, the Evil Queen has assumed leadership of the kingdom, manifesting her cruel nature. And when her magic mirror reveals that Snow White is the fairest in all the land, she is furious, and quickly devises a scheme to get rid of the princess. Snow White flees the castle to escape the wrath of the Evil Queen, where she comes across some woodland creatures who lead her to a picturesque cottage in the woods. The cottage is home to Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy, who spend their days digging for jewels in the nearby mines.
It is in this magical forest that she encounters Jonathan, a young man eager to defy the monarchy. Jonathan, who is captivated by her beauty and kindness, joins forces with her magical friends, empowering Snow White to find her voice and the strength and courage to face the Evil Queen.
